Tithing Stories From the Grace Community... "Amy"

1) How has tithing impacted your personal journey with Christ?

I would say that tithing has shaped my life and helped me become the person I am. I remember as a kid in church I would always see my parents putting their offering in the offering plate and I always wanted to do the same.  Sure there were times when they let me put theirs in, but it just wasn’t the same for me. So when I got my first job I was so excited to be able to do my own tithe! I treasured being able to give back to God and I never thought twice about whether or not I should do it. I always knew it was something I was born to do and I do it happily!

Grace Stories... "Prayers Answered"

Thirty days ago, the Grace community undertook "60 Days of Reckless Tithing." As we reach the halfway point, stories of God's faithfulness have begun to pour in. If you have wondered whether this whole idea of reckless tithing has any merit, read this prayer sent in from a fellow Gracer...

Dear God,
I’ve had so much more time to pray for my friends since I am not stressed out all the time about finances. I felt your loving spirit wrapped around me as I passed another really hard test. I shouldn’t be so totally amazed by your grace, but I am!

To Give or Not to Give...

This is a short personal story written by my friend, Sam...

"Years ago when my wife and I were in seminary, the whole question of tithing came up in a class I was taking. Given that the class had folks from all over the theological spectrum, the conversation was pretty intense. While most everyone concluded that '10%' was 'the number', it was fascinating to see how many had never actually done it and the reasons why they hadn't.
